Mission Statement
The mission of the University of Connecticut Police Department is to enhance
the quality of life by providing a secure and safe environment through
professional service to the University Community
Department Values
The members of the University of Connecticut Police Department recognize our
contribution to the quality of life and a safe environment in our community
through our continuing efforts to provide professional law enforcement
services. On a daily basis we meet the challenge of providing these services
by basing our thoughts and actions on the following shared values.
The UConn (University of
Connecticut) Police Department values our opportunity to provide service in a
manner that is fair, courteous, responsive and efficient. An attitude of
respect for, and the protection of, the worth, dignity and rights of all is
the foundation of the UConn Police Department.
Integrity
The UConn Police Department places high priority and value on candor,
honesty and ethical behavior in members of the Department. We remain
committed to uphold our position of trust by maintaining the highest ethical
standards as set forth in the administrative and operational orders of the
University of Connecticut Police Department and the Law Enforcement Code of
Ethics.
Duties and Responsibility to the Community
The UConn Police Department values the need for effective use of our
resources and the necessity to provide a spirit of open communication with
the community we serve. The Department takes responsibility for its actions,
and is willing to admit mistakes to ensure that our behavior continues to
maintain the support and trust of all segments of the community.
Attitude
The UConn Police Department values a professional work ethic by having a
clear sense of duty, commitment, perspective and direction. Creating a
working environment that encourages teamwork, innovation and constant
evaluation of our performance develops a professional police attitude. A
professional attitude is dedicated to quality of work, timeliness of
response and excellence in our service to the community.
Pride
The members of the UConn Police Department believe the work we perform to be a source of enjoyment and personal satisfaction. UConn Police personnel are proud of the contribution to the University of Connecticut made over the years by our Department. We consider ourselves to be a vital part of the University community. UConn Police personnel enjoy our chosen career in serving the profession of law enforcement.
