Mission
The University of Florida Police Department is established to provide protection and service to the university community. We are committed to the prevention of crime and the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace, order, and safety; the enforcement of laws and ordinances; and the safeguarding of constitutional guarantees.
With community service as our foundation, we are driven by goals to enhance the quality of life, investigating problems as well as incidents, seeking solutions and fostering a sense of security through programs reflecting the needs and desires of the community. We nurture public trust by holding ourselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics.
Values
Integrity: The community's trust and confidence in the police department will be earned in large part by the integrity of its officers. All officers are expected to espouse the highest moral standards, at all times conducting themselves in a manner which is fair, ethical, legal and which portrays a sense of duty and honor toward the entrusted person with which they hold.
Justice: The administration of law and order is based on the constitutional ideal of justice for all. Toward fulfillment of that ideal we are committed to the protection of every citizen, and strive to ensure that every citizen will be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.
Service: As members of a law enforement agency, we recognize that we are servants of the public. As such, we are duty bound to the highest level of community service in the protection of life and property.
Trust: The community has entrusted us to excerise our authority with wisdom, compassion, and committment to honesty and justice. Through the individual efforts of all members of the department we strive to be worthy of the confidence and trust of the students, faculty, staff, and general public.
Vision
The vision of the University of Florida Police Department is to become a model in the field of campus law enforcement by providing the highest level of law enforcement, safety, and crime prevention services required to meet the needs of progressive academic institutions.
Goals
Toward the attainment of this vision, the University of Florida Police Department sets as its goals:
- The recruitment, selection, training, and fitness of competant police officers.
- The efficient and effective deployment of law enforcement personnel and services.
- The development, implementation, and deployment of specialized services and community based programming.
By accomplishing these goals, we are confident we can meet the ever-changing needs and expectations of the community as they relate to police services.
