Garner Police Department

Mission Statement

The values of the Garner Police Department reflect a neighborhood-based, community problem-solving philosophy of policing. Our values must guide conduct throughout the organization and all departmental activities must be based upon these values. Only when these formal values are expressed in our daily actions can we be truly considered a professional public service organization.

Quality of Life:
Our highest priority is preserving, protecting and enhancing the quality of life within our community. Everyone has the right to be safe and secure within their homes and neighborhoods and to be treated with respect, dignity, sensitivity, and fairness.

Partnership:
We believe that residents must be empowered to actively participate in decisions affecting the quality of life in their neighborhoods and the community. Each neighborhood is unique with individual problems and issues and we must be responsive to neighborhood priorities. We are committed to problem solving and understand the importance of cooperation with the community.

High Quality Public Service:
We are committed to continually enhancing the level of service provided to our community. We will recruit and develop employees who are committed to community service, view the public as customers, and are accountable to the public for providing excellent service. We believe people should be kept informed about circumstances and events in their neighborhood, community, and police department.

Integrity:
We value the trust the public has given us and will honestly and ethically carry out our responsibilities. We will adhere to the Constitutions of the United States and the State of North Carolina in the pursuit of community service. We will investigate and respond appropriately to all allegations of impropriety.

Employees:
Every employee of the Garner Police Department is a valuable asset. Employees must be empowered to develop creative solutions to neighborhood problems and rewarded for excellent public service. Employees must be provided with involvement, training and education, modern equipment, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
