Each conference is organized around a particular theme in criminal justice ethics, and contributions are solicited from scholars throughout the country and internationally.
- Civil Commitment of Sex Offenders
The Institute is planning a conference in April of 2006 on the legal, medical, and human rights questions raised by the practice of the indefinite civil commitment of sex offenders. For more information, please send an email message to:cjethics@jjay.cuny.edu
- Jury Ethics
In September, 2003, the Institute sponsored a conference on jury ethics, titled
"Jury Ethics: Juror Conduct and Jury Dynamics". The papers have been published as Jury Ethics: Juror Conduct and Jury Dynamics by Paradigm Publishers.
- Corruption: Private and Public
The Institute held two conferences on this theme in September 7-8, 2001 and September 13-14, 2002. The papers have been published by Rowman & Littlefield as Private and Public Corruption
- Correctional Ethics
In May 1999, the Institute sponsored a conference on correctional ethics, titled
"Discretion in a Closed Community: Issues in Correctional Ethics". The papers have been published by Rowman & Littlefield as Discretion, Community and Correctional Ethics
- Indigence and Criminal Justice
In 1997-1998, the Institute sponsored two Conferences on this topic. The papers, now revised, have been published by Oxford University Press as From Social Justice to Criminal Justice: Poverty and the Administration of Criminal Law
