The Library regularly offers three different kinds of classes which are intended to make the Library and its resources more accessible to students, staff, and faculty.
Informal Library Drop-in Sessions are regularly scheduled nine times each week (see Schedule). Every week features a new topic (see Topic Descriptions). Topics include Finding Journal Articles, Criminal Justice Sources, and Using Lexis-Nexis for Legal Research. Note that the session Your Paper/Help with Research can be a private session at a time that is convenient for you. Sign up at the Reference Desk.
Librarians can be scheduled to provide formal instruction in the library classroom for designated courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Faculty will accompany their classes to the library. Check the attached document for the library policies concerning our instructional program and a list of the courses for which instruction can be provided. For scheduling, contact Prof. Marvie Brooks at mbrooks@jjay.cuny.edu or on x8261.
If a professor finds that there is a particular database or significant research point that needs explanation for a whole class, a member of the Library faculty can come to the classroom for that particular purpose in a 20-30 minutes session. Please contact Janice Dunham at jdunham@jjay.cuny.edu or x8256.
