Compiled by the Nathanson Centre for the Study of Organized Crime and Corruption of York University, Toronto, indexes books, newspaper articles, magazines and journals.
 
Restorative Justice Database
Created and maintained by the University of Toronto Centre of Criminology Library, this database includes citations to academic and practitioner literature from 1970 to the present. It is updated and maintained on a regular basis and presently includes more than 1,400 records.

This web site for the European Institue for Crime Prevention and Control (an affiliate of the United Nations)provides studies of the criminal justice systems in specific European countries. Each study follows a specific structure so that comparisons between countries can be made easily. Statistics are included, but the statistics are only as current as the date of the report.

The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) provides a clearinghouse for information about research projects, education and technology that can enhance policing in the United Kingdom. Official Documents of the United Nations
ODS covers all types of official United Nations documentation, beginning in 1993, but including some that are older; also provides access to the resolutions of the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council and the Trusteeship Council from 1946 onwards. It does NOT contain press releases, UN sales publications, the United Nations Treaty Series or information brochures issued by the Department of Public Information.

The web site of the Organization of American States includes documents concerning human rights, fighting drug abuse, corruption, etc.
 
Trade and Environment Database (TED)
TED is a collection of over 700 case studies on international matters concerning trade: September 1992 to May 2007. The cases originally focused on environmental issues; but newer categories include economic consequences of social policy choices, such as culture, human rights, or other issues. This is a project at American University.
 
Tuebingen Institute of Criminology
The Tuebingen Institute of Criminology has recently fully revised and updated its Criminology and Criminal Justice Link List with links to German, European, International, EU, and UN sources, including content services to many journals in the field. Headings are in German and English.
 
United Nations
Site available in English, French, Russian, and Spanish versions. The home page has a search option on the lower right. Advanced keyword searching options allow for the retrieval of text and multimedia publications from the UN and its many related organizations. Both official and unofficial informational material can be found.

World Factbook of Criminal Justice Systems
Developed under BJS grants, this site provides narrative descriptions of the criminal justice systems of 45 countries around the world. The original 42 descriptions were completed in 1993. The latest 5 entries including two updated country profiles were prepared in 2002.

National Archive of Criminal Justice Data
Holds over 550 data collections relating to criminal justice. This website provides browsing and downloading access to most of this data and documentation, as well as an on-line Data Analysis System for some of the studies.
 
New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services

Select the World Prison Brief option for statistics on prison systems and incarceration rates in over 200 countries. This web site is maintained by the School of Law at King's College of the University of London. Note the year and source for the collected data by looking at the profile for each country.

Nation Master
Specializes in ranking countries of the world on the basis of a specific statistic within broad statistical categories. For example within the category of crime there is a ranking of countries by number of jails per capita. The statistics are gathered from sources published by the UN, the CIA World Factbook, the World Bank and other authorative sources. Use the Encyclopedia link on the top right to see the statistics available by category. Caution: Since we are not a sponsor of the site, you will not be able to use the option for making your own graphs based on selected countries and categories. If you click on the name of a country in a ranking list, you will be given a statistical profile of that country. However, statistical profiles in the CIA World Factbook are more current.

Famous Trials
Prof. Doug Linder of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School has put together information about famous trials in history from the trial of Socrates in 399 B.C. to the O.J. Simpson trial in 1995. Also included are the Nuremburg Trials, the trial of Charles Manson, the McMartin Preschool Trial, and the trial of LAPD Officers for the beating of Rodney King. Linder has included exerpts from transcripts, background information on the individuals involved and supplementary materials.

This rich site provides primary source access to a database with information on 11,000 homicides maintained by the Chicago Police Dept. The Proceedings of the Old Bailey London can now be read and searched online. So far the accounts of 53,000 trials, from April 1674 to December 1799, are available in transcription and as page images. The site also includes historical background.
