National Interagency Fire Center
The National Interagency Fire Center was created to coordinate the preventive and proactive efforts of nine different government agencies on wildfire management. Their site contains information on current items of contemporary importance, such as the status of current wildland fires and reports on various fire accidents and incidences. The site is divided into a number of thematic areas including wildland fire prevention and education. The fire statistics area is quite helpful as it provides information on significant fires dating back to the early 19th century, and also provides detailed information on the wildland fire seasons from 1998 to 2002. The site is rounded out by a collection of Web links our useful wildland fire sites.

U.S. Fire Administration
Provides detailed statistics on urban fires dating back to 1985, as well as statistics on fire deaths and property losses as part of its National Fire Data Center. FIREDOC
The Building and Fire Research Laboratory of the National Institute of Standards and Technology provides access to a fire literature search program, FIREDOC. Fire professionals use FIREDOC to identify documents related to fire science, fire science engineering, building construction/materials, and modelling, most of which are produced by the Building and Fire Research Laboratory. This database is quite technically-oriented.
 
Learning Resource Center (LRC - Library Catalog of the National Fire Academy)
The LRC has made its Online Card Catalog (OCC) accessible through the Web. The catalog provides bibliographic citations to journal articles as well as books, research reports, government documents and conference proceedings. After locating your desired material, check to see if the Library owns it in the CUNY library catalog, CUNY+.
