Student Technology Fee

Thanks to the Student Technology Fee, the Library has been able to greatly expand its collection of electronic resources for student research. The following resources have been added so far; more will follow. All of these are available to students for home use:

ACM Digital Library - Contains over 102,000 full-text articles from journals, magazines, and conference proceedings published by ACM (Association for Computing Machinery).

America History and Life - Index to journal articles on American history, with links to full text articles; 1964-.

AMICO Library - An online collection of high-quality, digital documentation of works of art from around the world, contributed by Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO) members.

Biography Resource Center - Combines biographies from Gale encyclopedias with full-text articles from hundreds of periodicals.

Books in Print - Bowker's Global Books in Print is searchable by keyword and browsable by subject, author, title, etc.; also includes Forthcoming Books, and book reviews.

CQ Researcher - Explores a single "hot" issue in the news in depth each week. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and science and technology; 1991 -.

CQ Supreme Court Collection - Blends historical analysis with timely updates and expert commentary on Supreme Court decisions, biographies of Supreme Court justices, Supreme Court institutional history, and the U.S. Constitution.

CQ Voting and Elections Collection - Includes data and political and historial analysis on Presidential, Congressional, and Gubernatorial elections, as well as information on campaigns, the electoral process, political parties, and voters.

CQ Weekly - Weekly reports on the activities of the U.S. Congress including the status of bills in play, behind-the-scenes maneuvering, committee and floor activity, debates and all roll-call votes; 1983 - .

Current Urban Documents - Indexes reports from local government agencies and organizations in 500 cities in the U.S. and Canada; with full text.

Dissertation Abstracts (Proquest Digital Dissertations) - Indexes over 1,560,000 dissertations and theses from institutions in the North America and Europe from 1861; abstracts from 1980; full text of all dissertations 1997 - .

Econlit - Indexes and abstracts more than 450 international economic journals, and includes includes journal articles, essays, research papers, books, dissertations, book reviews, and working papers; 1969-

Encyclopedia Britannica Online - General knowledge online encyclopedia.

Fire Codes Online - Online version of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) National Fire Codes.

Forensic Bibliographic Database (FORS) - Multidisciplinary index to the literature of the forensic sciences, 1976- .

FORENSICnetBASE - A searchable collection of over 69 reference books in forensic science and related fields.

Grove Dictionary of Art Online - Access to the entire text of the 34 vol. Dictionary of Art with updates and links to images.

GroveMusic Online - Comprises the full text of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, 2nd ed., and The New Grove Dictionary of Opera.

Health and Safety Science Abstracts - Published in association with the Univ. of S. California Inst. of Safety and Systems Management, this database indexes work relating to public health, safety, and fire science; 1981-.

Hein Online - Full text of over 200 law journals from volume 1 of their publication.

Historical Abstracts - Index to articles on world history, with links to full-text articles.

Index to Legal Periodicals Full Text - Index to articles in law journals, 1981- ; Approximately 20% of the journals are full text.

InfoSECURITY netBASE - A searchable collection of over 43 handbooks on information technology security.

JSTOR - A searchable collection of the complete runs (minus the most recent 2 to 5 years) of over 200 of the most significant scholarly journals.

Kluwer Online - Full text of almost 200 scholarly journals published by Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1997- .

Learning Express Library - Provides test preparation for common exams, including academic tests such as GRE and LSAT, and civil service exams, including firefighter and police, corrections, etc. (look under Law Enforcement).

MathSciNet - Index to articles in mathematics.

Mental Measurements Yearbook - Fulltext information about and reviews of all English-language standardized tests of educational skills, personality, vocational aptitude, psychology, and related areas; Yearbooks 9 through 15.

netLibrary electronic books - John Jay users have access to over 5,000 commercially published electronic books, including 200 recently-published titles in criminal justice.

New York City Municipal Code, Charter and Rules - Available through LEXIS, the local laws and regulations for New York City.

New York Code, Rules, and Regulations (NYCRR) - Available through LEXIS, NYCRR is the administrative code of New York State.

New York Times Historical File - Full article images of The New York Times back to 1851.

Oxford English Dictionary Online - The complete text of the OED's twenty-volume Second Edition and three-volume Additions Series.

Oxford Reference Online - Access to over 100 dictionaries and other reference works from Oxford University Press.

Project MUSE - Full text of nearly 200 scholarly journals from 30 publishers.

PsycARTICLES - Contains more than 30,000 full-text articles from 43 journals published by the American Psychological Association and allied organizations; 1988 -.

Refworks - A web-based bibliographic citation management service that is useful for tracking citations, generating bibliographies & citing sources in papers, etc.

Sage Criminology and Sociology Full Text Collections - Full text of 44 journals in criminology and sociology published by Sage, 1982- .

Science Direct - Full text of almost 1,000 journals in the sciences and social sciences.

Shepard's Citations - Search for cited cases; check the validity of a citation.

Statistical Universe - Contains over 130,000 individually indexed statistical tables from federal, state, international and private sources.

Wiley Interscience - Full text of almost 400 scholarly journals published by Wiley Publishers.

Worldwide Political Science Abstracts - Indexes journals in political science and its complementary fields, including international relations, law, and public administration/policy; 1975 - .
